Heathrow airport has unveiled its Christmas ad for this year, featuring Doris and Edward Bair, stars of the airport’s seasonal campaign last in 2016.

This year’s ad shows the back story of how the two bears met in the 1960s, with Doris then a young air stewardess and Edward returning from a business trip.

It follows their story and the growing Bair family through the decades, accompanied by the soundtrack of Petula Clark’s Couldn’t Live Without Your Love.

Much of the ad was filmed in the now-closed Heathrow T1 “to create a nostalgic backdrop location”, and British Airways provided an original BOAC aircraft, air hostess uniforms and historical details “to help convey the authentic history or air travel”.

Commenting on this year’s ad, Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Commercial Director said:

“After an overwhelming response across the globe to Doris and Edward last year, we had to bring these lovable bears back to our screens. We hear from our passengers that there is no greater feeling than being wrapped in the arms of a loved one at Christmas.

“We wanted the advert to capture this unique feeling and make people feel even more excited to welcome friends and family this festive season.”
