Travellers flying on Qatar Airways Vietnam routes into Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi can now connect to Vietjet flights to and from eight domestic destinations under a single reservation following an interline agreement that was recently signed by both carriers.

The partnership includes flights to and from Da Nang, Ban Me Thuot, Dalat, Hai Phone, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Pleiku and Vinh City, along with one international destination, Taipei. Interline agreements enable travellers to reserve flights across the two airlines under a single booking and don’t require them to re-collect luggage or check-in again during transit.

“The new agreement with Vietjet will offer our passengers even more choice, providing them an easy connection in Ho Chi Minh City of Hanoi before transferring to their Qatar Airways flights,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ chief executive.

The Doha-based carrier has been expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia over the past 12 months, particularly in Vietnam. Starting January 1, both Qatar Airways’ services to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are set to get a bump in overall frequency, with Hanoi getting a new daily non-stop flight and Ho Chi Minh City getting three additional flights per week for a total of 10.

“Qatar Airways is delighted to celebrate 10 years in Vietnam this year, and it is all thanks to the Vietnamese market’s support that we have been able to expand our footprint in this growing market,” Al Baker added.
