Zeroing in on the lodging needs of business travellers, a new company called Domicile is listing studio and one-bedroom apartments located in or near city centers and equipped with business friendly extras like high speed WiFi, cable TV, and fully equipped kitchens.

Geekwire reported October 3, 2017 that Domicile CEO Ross Saario believes there is a gap in the market for Airbnb rooms with hotel-style amenities, “Sometimes with Airbnbs, you’re not quite sure what you’re going to get when you open the door, but with business-level hotels, it’s that strong brand, it’s that consistent experience, it’s the amenities, the concierge service. We’re blending it with the best of what Airbnb and alternative lodging has to offer.”

The Seattle based startup has 30 listings in its home city and did about $1 million in business this year. The listed apartments are leased, not owned, by Domicile. Listed rooms in the Seattle market start at $150 per night.

The company website boasts of accommodations in newly renovated or freshly constructed buildings and “walkable” locations, and says all bookings will be supported by a Domicile host who can answer questions, provide recommendations, and otherwise assist with each stay.

Stay Alfred is another Washington-based company with a similar business model.

For its part, Airbnb has its business travel ready listings.
