Air Malta has launched a raft of new booking products, including a hand baggage only fare and three new business class options.

The Go-Light hand baggage fare is available from £44 one-way from Gatwick to Malta, and £63 from Heathrow.

The carrier says that “The booking options for the new Go-Light product are varied and one can not only purchase luggage and ancillary services during the booking stage through airmalta.com, but guests can purchase these services at a later stage before departure from the airline’s call centre or at check-in”.

Business class booking options have also been revamped, with three products now available with benefits including:

  • Just Business – non-refundable fare (unless cancelled within the first 24 hours), offering one piece of checked luggage, free middle seat, inflight food and drink, and check in up to 45 minutes before departure
  • Smart Business – 50 per cent of fare refundable, two pieces of checked luggage, free middle seat, inflight food and drink, and check in up to 35 minutes before departure
  • Business Freedom – fully refundable, two pieces of checked luggage, free middle seat, inflight food and drink, and check in up to 30 minutes before departure

Air Malta said that the move was “the first step of Air Malta to become a hybrid airline”, adding that the new model “provides guests with a unique platform that empowers them to build a tailor made product according to their wants and needs”.

Last month Air Malta announced plans to reinstate flights between Manchester and Malta, reversing the decision to scrap the service last year.
