Hong Kong-based low-cost carrier HK Express has launched a mobile app for its Reward-U frequent-flyer programme.

The new app provides members with the ability to access their accounts as well as earn and redeem miles, whether as an individual flyer or as part of their Reward-U “Crew”. Special offers and promotions are also available through the platform.

For travellers with existing flights, ancillary features such as additional baggage, pre-purchased meals and seat selection can also be redeemed using the app, whether with points or a combination of points and cash.

“The Reward-U mobile app is a key step forward in our value proposition and market fundamentals support that: the millennial market is growing ever larger; statistics show that Hong Kong has one of the world’s highest mobile phone penetration rates at 237 per cent; and mobile technology continues to develop at a rapid pace,” said the programme’s CEO, Steven Greenway.

“The new mobile app will also be an important platform to interact with our members and enhance their overall rewards experience.”

HK Express has been upping its rewards and business travel services over the past year. In December, the budget carrier launched its U-Biz corporate travel service, which offers perks for business travellers such as priority boarding and check-in, free seat selection, and same-day flight changes.

Reward-U was launched in April 2016 and as of July this year had reached one million members.
