Indian Railway has introduced a vista dome carriage on the Mumbai-Goa Jan Shatabdi Express. This is the first of its kind for the government-owned railway company.

The train operates between Mumbai’s Dadar station and Goa’s Madgaon station daily. It is on the Monday, Thursday and Saturday service that the vista dome is available to passengers. Once the monsoons end, the coach will be available five times a week on this route — the days haven’t been announced yet.

The glass roof of the vista dome and large windows allow passengers to enjoy a scenic journey.

The special coach, attached at the end of the train, has 40 chairs that rotate 360 degrees and recline to a certain angle. Hanging LCD screens are fitted to provide entertainment to passengers. Other facilities in the air-conditioned coach include a multi-tier luggage rack and automatic doors.

Jan Shatabdi Express pulls out of Dadar at 0525 and halts in Madgaon at 1600 the same day.

Buisness Traveller India tried to book a ticket on the vista dome via the Indian Railway website, app and over the phone, but was advised that its prices and tickets can only be found at the ticket counter of Dadar station.
