Rosewood Hotels and Resorts opened its second property in mainland China this week, the Rosewood Sanya, located on the country’s southern island of Hainan.
The hotel joins the Hong Kong-headquartered group’s only other Rosewood-branded property in Greater China, the Rosewood Beijing, offering a generally comparable number of guestrooms. All 246 of the Rosewood Sanya’s accommodations, which range from 68 sqm to 680 sqm face the ocean, while 45 of them also offer balcony plunge pools.
For corporate travellers, the most notable feature of the resort-style property, however, is likely the Sanya Forum, Haitang Bay’s largest convention centre. The hotel is part of a 16-hectare integrated resort of landscaped gardens, and includes its own meeting spaces including the residential-style The Pavilion.
Outside of events, the hotel features a 110-metre infinity pool and bar on the 13th floor of the property along with five restaurants and lounges. These include East Kitchen, also located on the 13th floor and offering comfort foods, along with the market-style The Fishmonger, which is opening in the end of September.
Meanwhile from a health and wellness standpoint, the hotel has a Sense spa with seven treatment rooms, a fitness studio, yoga studio and an outdoor yoga platform. It should be noted, that the Rosewood Sanya is not launching with the group’s recently announced Asaya wellness concept, which is debuting with the Rosewood Phuket.
The Rosewood Guangzhou is set to open next year as the company’s third property in mainland China under its flagship brand, along with the Rosewood Hong Kong that is also expected to open its doors in 2018. Overall, the company aims to have 10 properties open by 2019 across Asia-Pacific.
