Hilton and IHG have become the latest hotel groups to make changes to their cancellation policies.

Travellers with reservations at Hilton properties will now be required to give notice of cancellations at least two days in advance in order to get a full refund.

Meanwhile IHG is dropping it’s same-day notice policy in favour of a 24-hour cancellation policy.

The shifts come hard on the heels of Marriott International’s adoption of a 48-hour cancellation policy, announced earlier this month.

Marriott previously allowed customers to cancel penalty-free up with as little as 24 hours notice.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the new Hilton cancellation policy will take effect on July 31, 2017 at all US and Canada based hotels that the company manages.

Operators of hotels managed by companies other than Hilton will be free to decide whether or not to adopt the new policy.

The IHG policy applies to all of the chain’s brands except for Kimpton Hotels, which will retain its current 48-hour cancellation policy, CBS News reported.

IHG brands also include Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites, among others.
