Sixt Rent-a-Car is continuing to grow its presence in the U.S., this week announcing two new locations in San Diego and San Antonio, both slated to open in fall of 2017.

“Because we are focused on the leisure consumer, these great cities are key areas,” said Daniel Florence, Sixt USA co-president. “They’re famous as first-rate vacation destinations, rich with sights to see, and filled with wonderful places to drive.”

Both new locations will be on-airport — at San Diego International Airport and San Antonio International Airport, respectively.

Sebastian Birkel, Sixt USA’s other co-president, said the addition of San Antonio and San Diego is part of a rapid expansion plan that will continue into 2018. “We are working as hard as we can to make Sixt as widely available in as many markets as we can, as soon as possible,” said Birkel. “Our strategic focus is to get into all of the top 30 U.S. airport markets first, and then to expand further from there.”

Sixt is now the fifth-largest car rental company in the U.S. The firm, based in Germany, has more than 4,000 locations in 115 countries. Sixt USA has been based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, since 2011, and presently has more than 50 rental locations in California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Washington, Texas, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, and Massachusetts.
