Marriott is to open two new properties in the Berkshire town of Slough.

The Moxy and Residence Inn properties will be located on the A4 on the site of the former Central Library, between the town centre and Slough station, which will welcome Crossrail services from late 2019.

The Moxy hotel will offer 144 rooms, while the extended stay Residence inn will have 92 rooms.

The hotels will be financed and owned by Slough Borough Council, working with Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) to bring the development to fruition.

SUR is a joint venture between the council and Morgan Sindall Investments, which is currently delivering £900 million of residential, leisure, education and commercial development projects across the borough.

Commenting in the news Roger Parkin, interim CEO at Slough Borough Council said:

“The hotels will not only boost the town centre night time economy and provide jobs but also bring long-term secure income for the council that we can invest in the frontline services we know our residents need and want.

“Along with our massive redevelopment scheme for the former Thames Valley University site and the opening of The Curve cultural centre last year, this project is further proof of our commitment to regenerating the heart of Slough and being at the forefront of building for the future.”

Marriott’s Moxy brand opened its first London hotel close to Excel in March, while the group’s Residence Inn brand is due to open two London properties in London Bridge and Kensington this year.
