Business Traveller rounds up new, renovated and upcoming hotels from brands including W, Mondrian, Hilton and OD Hotels

Dream Hollywood

Dream Hotels has opened a new property in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Located on the corner of Selma Avenue and N. Cahuenga Boulevard, the hotel has 178 rooms and suites including a 167 sqm guest house suite. A rooftop pool spanning 1,022 sqm offers views across the Hollywood hills, while a Gunnar Peterson gym features Avanti Cardiogym and interactive fitness bikes. The hotel has five restaurants and nightlife venues including a pizzeria and bar, an asian bistro and “a new rooftop concept”. A 279 sqm meeting space will debut in the autumn.

W Shanghai – The Bund

 

Marriott International has announced the opening of a new W property in Shanghai. Designed by architecture and interiors firm G.A Design, the hotel is a blend of eastern and western influences with 374 rooms, 6,000 sqm of meeting space, a spa and a 24-hour gym. A New York-style bistro and traditional Cantonese restaurant are on offer, alongside three bars including the brand’s signature Woobar and poolside Wet bar.

Aleph Rome Hotel

Hilton has opened its first hotel in Rome from upscale brand Curio Collection by Hilton. A short walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, the 88-room hotel is housed in a 1930s building, boasting high ceilings, marble floors and contemporary Italian furniture. The hotel’s dining options include a rooftop restaurant, a bistro serving local dishes and a lunch buffet, a cognac lounge and a cocktail bar. There is also a rooftop pool, an indoor pool, spa and gym.

Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle's Southport

Hyatt Regency has launched a property in Seattle. The 12-storey hotel is “the only waterfront hotel within ten miles of Seattle airport” and the brand’s third hotel in the Seattle area. With 347 rooms offering views over Lake Washington and the Seattle skyline, the hotel has a 24-hour gym, a yoga room, an indoor saline pool, a spa and a lakeside restaurant and bar serving Asian-inspired Northwest fine dining. Regency Club guests can access an exclusive second-floor space which comes with 279 sqm of event space, including a waterfront boardroom and catering.

Bisha Hotel Toronto

Loews Hotels and Resorts and Ink Entertainment will be opening a new property in Toronto this August. Part of the Bisha Hotel and Residences complex, the Bisha Toronto will have 96 rooms, a gym, a lobby bar, a 24-hour café and a rooftop restaurant with an infinity pool. Some 14 rooms and suites have been designed by musician Lenny Kravitz’s design firm, including the interiors of the 186 sqm Bisha suite. Some 214 sqm of meeting space will also be on offer.

OD Barcelona

OD Barcelona

OD Hotels is due to open a new hotel in Barcelona. Opening in August in Barcelona’s Eixample district, the hotel will have 98 rooms and suites, a restaurant serving “health-conscious” cuisine, a rooftop bar, sundeck and pool. The rooftop terrace can also be hired for events. Sustainability is another highlight, boasting solar panels and an air-conditioning and heating system that cuts consumption by 35 per cent. Staff are also trained in eco-friendly practices. The hotel joins the group’s hotels in Ibiza and Mallorca, and is the first on the Spanish mainland.

Lifestyle hospitality group Sbe is set to debut its first Middle Eastern hotel. Launching this September, the Mondrian Doha will have 270 rooms designed in collaboration with Dutch interior designer Marcel Wanders, all of which feature Swarovski crystal chandeliers, bespoke furniture and a desert-themed décor. The hotel will have eight restaurants and bars including outposts from restaurateur and chef Wolfgang Puck and Japanese chef Masahuru Morimoto. Additional features will include a nightclub, rooftop pool, a “sky bar”, spa and ballroom.

Hotel Indigo London – One Leicester Square

IHG has announced the signing of a new property in London’s Leicester Square. Set to be the group’s fourth hotel from the boutique brand in London, it will open later this year with 95 rooms individually designed to reflect the local area. A rooftop bar and restaurant will offer panoramic views across the capital, with art deco furnishings in the public spaces and accents that reflect the area’s heritage theatres and cinemas. A gym and work space will also feature.
