Dublin-based aparthotel operator Staycity has announced the launch of a new brand, inspired by Irish author and playwright Oscar Wilde.

The Wilde by Staycity concept will be rolled out across city centre locations throughout Europe, with the first property to open in the autumn on London’s Strand, followed by properties in Edinburgh, Manchester and Berlin.

Staycity CEO and co-founder Tom Walsh said:

“Wilde by Staycity has a clear personality and its distinctive style, comfort and clever design will appeal to today’s city traveller whilst retaining our trademark home-away-from-home hospitality.”

The 106-room building on The Strand was developed for Staycity by Galliard, offering studios and deluxe studios over eight floors including three sky level studios.

Units will contain in-room technology including a 43-inch flat screen smart TV and touch control panels for lighting, air conditioning, towel rails and blinds. Features include a XL-sized bed and rain showers alongside a collection of Irish-inspired crafted accessories and soft furnishings.

The studios and deluxe studios come with fully equipped kitchenettes with a Nespresso machine and a Nutri-Bullet. On top of this, rooms are fitted with a Handy guest smartphone, which provides free local and international phone calls to selected destinations.

Design accents include solid oak flooring, handcrafted joinery and “local curiosities” in the kitchen and bathroom. Rooms and public spaces contain bespoke artwork commissioned by Wilde, which capture his personality.

Walsh added: “The brand combines design cues from its locality coupled with an Irish stamp that alludes to its heritage. We intend Wilde to have a true sense of place, with designs continuing to evolve at each property.”
