Qatar Airways will launch its new Q Suite business class product on selected flights to London Heathrow from later this week.

The Gulf carrier will operate a B777 fitted with the new seats on the London-Doha route from June 24.

The airline’s Paris and New York routes will be the next to see the Q Suite, with Qatar Airways’ fleet being retrofitted at a rate of one aircraft per month.

Features of the new product include the option to convert two seats into a double bed, or to group four seats together into a private suite.

The Q Suite which has been designed by Rockwell Collins, is being showcased at this week’s Paris Air Show, and Qatar Airways’ CEO Akbar Al Baker said that the new seat would “transform premium travel by bringing a First Class experience to the Business Class cabin”.

“With this innovative offering – which features the first-ever double bed in Business Class – we have set a new standard for the industry, one which demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the finest possible experience for our passengers,” he added. “We look forward to the debut of Qsuite on our Doha – London Heathrow route this weekend.”

Qatar Airways has recently been hit by the blockade on Qatar by four neighbouring countries, although in a statement last week the carrier said that its global operations were “running smoothly”.
