KLM has launched a new service enabling customers to receive their flight information via Twitter.

Passengers opting in to the service when booking tickets or checking in at klm.com, will receive details including booking confirmation, check-in notification, boarding pass and flight status, in direct message to the individual’s Twitter account.

Notifications can be sent in ten languages, and are also available via the Chinese social media platform WeChat.

It’s not clear if the service is now available to all customers – in a statement the carrier said that “The roll out starts today [June 6] and the service will be more widely available in the coming weeks”.

Last year KLM became the first airline to offer flight documents and information via Facebook Messenger.

Customers can also use Twitter to contact the carrier’s social media service agents, who are available 24 hours a day.
