Qantas has unveiled plans for its new international wing at Perth airport, as the carrier gears up for the launch of non-stop flights to London next year.

The wing will be located within the existing T3/T4 area, and will integrate Qantas’ domestic and international services, offering a streamlined immigration and customs area “to enable a faster transfer experience”.

Facilities will include an outdoor deck with seating, additional food and beverage outlets, and a new Duty Free store.

There will also be a new International Transit Lounge for premium customers, featuring shower suites, a wellness facility, and an outdoor patio offering a Neil Perry designed Australian-style BBQ menu.

The lounge is being designed with customers transiting to and from the new Qantas services QF9 (from Melbourne to London via Perth) and QF10 in the opposite direction, although passengers originating in Perth will also have access.

All of the carrier’s domestic and international flights will operate from the new wing, including flights to Singapore, Auckland and London.

The new wing will be completed in time for the first non-stop flights between Perth and London in March 2018, tickets for which went on sale last month.

Commenting on the news, Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said:

“Perth will become the western hub for our international services to the United Kingdom and potentially other European destinations in the future.

“Combining all of our operations under one roof means customers can transfer from domestic to international services without changing terminals. The new design allows for an outdoor space and natural sunlight, which is something we know our customers will value ahead of a long-haul flight.

The current Qantas Club lounge in Terminal 1 will continue to operate, to cater for customers travelling internationally on partner airlines.
