Accorhotels has unveiled the new room design for its Ibis Budget brand, which has debuted at the Ibis Budget London Whitechapel – Bricklane.

The “Nest Room” features a new pull-down single bed for a third guest, and double beds with storage room underneath. Other facilities include a built-in coat rack, high-speed fibre wifi, flatscreen TV and reading lights.

The new design comes in six different colourways, and Ibis says that its flexibility means that it can be configured in ten different ways.

The brand is even trying to sell its bed pillows as an innovation, saying that “With the bed as a key element of the new layout, each room can be set up to suit the time of day and the individual needs of the guest, who can personalise their environment by positioning the pillows in multiple configurations”.

The Nest Room has initially been rolled out to a 110-room extension of the Ibis Budget London Whitechapel – Bricklane, which will be followed by the new Ibis Budget London Luton Airport when it opens at the end of July.

The new room concept will then be “gradually integrated across the chain as renovations and new buildings come on-stream”.

Ibis recently rolled out a new guest interaction concept, which sees staff using mobile devices to check in guests and “access any information they need away from the confines of a desk or a computer”.
