TAP Portugal has announced a new route between London City airport and Lisbon, adding to existing services from Gatwick and Heathrow.

Twice daily flights will operate Monday to Friday, with a single daily service at weekends, starting on October 29 and using 106-seat Embraer E190 aircraft.

Flights will depart Lisbon at 0650 and 1645 and London City at 1000 and 1955 on weekdays. On Saturday there will be a 0650 departure from Lisbon and 1000 from LCY, while on Sundays flights will leave Lisbon at 1645 and LCY at 1955.

TAP already serves Gatwick and Heathrow airports from Lisbon, and will be the only carrier to offer flights between the Portuguese capital and London City airport.

The airline said that in the first three months of 2017, the number of passengers carried between Lisbon and London had increased by over 20 per cent, adding that the new route would enable TAP to “take even more advantage of its Lisbon Hub to connect the UK to its intercontinental network, reinforcing its strategic position on business traffic”.

TAP Portugal recently announced plans to increase frequencies on its Lisbon routes to Gatwick and Manchester this summer.
