An all new regional carrier Zoom Air launches in India. Its first commercial flight will take off on February 15, from New Delhi to Durgapur (West Bengal) via Kolkata.

Flight ZO101 will depart Delhi at 0735 and arrive in Kolkata at 0935. ZO301 will depart Kolkata at 1005 and arrive in Durgapur at 1030. ZO301 will depart Durgapur at 1110 and arrive in Delhi at 1300. No other flight options are displayed on its website yet.

The airline plans to connect Delhi and Kolkata daily to Tirupati, Vijaywada, Mumbai, Shillong, Aizawl, Pasighat and Zero (in Arunachal Pradesh), Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Indore and Bhopal in the first phase. It will also launch daily multiple direct frequencies from Durgapur to Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai soon with “premium services on-board” as per the website.

“Zoom Air shall fill the gap of sectors that are less catered to, by other scheduled airlines. We bring a new perspective of flying and are termed a premium commuter airline, with on-board Zoom Eat – a styled snacks and beverages service; professional crew – a new initiative to have 1:1 lady pilots on board – operating from Premium T3 in New Delhi and T2 in Mumbai,” says Koustav M Dhar, chief operating officer and director of Zoom Air.

The airline promoted by Zexus Air Services has a fleet of three dry-leased CRJ 200LR planes. 

Zoom Air received the Schedule Operating Permit by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on February 3.
