British Airways is to return to Birmingham and Bristol airports later this year, with new summer routes to Malaga, Ibiza, Palma and Florence.

The weekly services will launch in May, and will operate on Saturdays using Embraer 190 jets.

It will be the first BA flights from either airport since 2007, when the carrier’s regional airline business BA Connect was sold to Flybe.

One-way fares on the new routes will start from £45 to Palma, £49 to Florence and Ibiza, and £59 to Malaga.

  • Bristol to Palma – departs 1630, arrives 1955

Birmingham

  • Birmingham to Florence – departs 1930, arrives 2240
  • Florence to Birmingham – departs 1710, arrives  1835
  • Birmingham to Ibiza – departs 2210, arrives 0145 the following day
  • Ibiza to Birmingham – departs 1950, arrives 2125
  • Birmingham to Malaga – departs 2305, arrives 0255 the following day
  • Malaga to Birmingham – departs 2025, arrives 2220
  • Birmingham to Palma – departs 2300, arrives 0230 the following day
  • Palma to Birmingham – departs 2040, arrives 2215

The news follows BA’s recent announcement of seven new routes from Manchester Airport this summer, along with three new destinations from London Stansted.
