Virgin Hotels will break ground on its second US location in New Orleans’ Warehouse District in April 2017, with an opening slated for early 2019, the Virgin Group’s lifestyle hotel brand has announced.

The 225-room hotel will feature a rooftop pool and lounge, gym, meeting and event space, and the signature Commons Club, a combination workspace, cocktail lounge, and library.

Virgin Hotel New Orleans will be built from the ground up at 550 Baronne Street, on the edge of the city’s revitalized central business district.

“New Orleans is an incredibly special city and one Virgin Hotels has had an eye on from the beginning,” says Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal.

“The history, the food, the music, the spirit — they all work together to make it a one-of-a-kind destination for both business and leisure travellers. We’re excited to bring the Virgin experience to the Big Easy because it’s a perfect fit in terms of our values and our emphasis on creating unique and immersive experiences for our guests.”

The company’s first property, Virgin Hotels Chicago (pictured above), opened in January 2016 at 203 North Wabash Street in the downtown Loop, at the corner of Lake Street. For a review of this property see:
