Hilton has announced plans for a new hotel in Morocco’s largest city.

The Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sidi Maarouf, will be Hilton’s second hotel in the country and will be located in the newly emerging business district, South West Casablanca.

The luxury hotel will have an initial 118 guest rooms, with the possibility for further expansion later, with features including a 550 sqm ballroom and 330 sqm of events space. There will also be three dining facilities on the complex.

John Greenleaf, global head, Hilton Garden Inn, said:

“Having successfully launched our brand in Morocco earlier this year we are confident that Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sidi Maarouf will serve the needs of travellers seeking a trusted yet affordable international hotel brand.

“Hilton Garden Inn is known across the world for offering amenities and services for travellers to sleep deep, stay fit, eat well and work smart while away from home.”

The hotel site is 25km from Mohammed V airport, has direct access to the tramway and is within close proximity of an intersection of three highways. There is also a 225m long suspension bridge currently under construction, which, when finished, will provide increased access to the city centre.

Carlos Khneisser, VP, development, MENA, Hilton Worldwide said:

“Sidi Maarouf is rapidly establishing itself as not only the gateway to the city centre, with the construction of its new suspension bridge, but as a significant business district in its own right.”

Earlier this year, Barceló Hotel Group announced plans to renovate the Rivoli Hotel in Casablanca on the Boulevard D’Anfa. The redevelopment is set to be finished by 2018, when the Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sidi Maarouf construction is scheduled to begin.

Hilton expects to start accepting guests at the Hilton Garden Inn Sidi Maarouf in 2021. The hotel will join the group’s existing Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Centre, its first property in Morocco, which opened in March 2016.
