Cathay Pacific has announced a partnership with Hertz to become the airline’s exclusive car rental service provider.

Passengers will receive discounts on basic car rental, while members of the airline’s frequent flyer programme will be able to earn bonus miles.

A promotional 20 per cent discount will be available in participating locations in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia, valid until January 31 for vehicle collection between January 1 and March 31. Asia Miles members will be able to earn up to 2,000 extra miles on qualifying rentals.

In addition, passengers flying with the Hong Kong-based airline will now receive an automatic 5 per cent discount on rentals worldwide. Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles members will receive ten per cent off rentals with Silver and Green Marco Polo Club members entitled to a free one-car class upgrade.

Gold and Diamond members will be entitled to a two-class car upgrade, with Diamond members entitled to a ten per cent discount on Hertz’s Prestige and Fun Collections.

This new agreement is in addition to the existing deal between Hertz and Asia Miles, which lets members earn up to 500 Asia Miles when booking rentals with Hertz.

As part of the partnership, the car rental company has also launched a multi-brand Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty booking website for passengers.
