Etihad Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Tanzanian carrier Precision Air.

The deal sees Etihad place its code on Precision Air flights between Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Mtwara, Nairobi, Zanzibar and Pemba, and between Nairobi and Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

In turn Precision Air will place its code on Etihad’s services between Dar es Salaam and Abu Dhabi.

Codeshare flights are available to book from today (December 21) via travel agents, or the airlines’ sales offices / contact centres, for travel from January 11, 2017.

Etihad currently operates services to ten African destinations: Johannesburg, Nairobi, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam, Khartoum, Casablanca, Rabat, Lagos, Cairo and Mahé.

Commenting on the new agreement Kevin Knight, Etihad Airways’ chief strategy and planning officer, said:

“Precision Air is an innovative and award-winning airline and this new codeshare agreement demonstrates Etihad Airways’ growing ambitions to strengthen its operations across the East African region.

“This is a further example of our strategy of working with partners to extend our reach, and provide business and leisure travellers with more choice.”

Etihad recently agreed a codeshare deal with German flag carrier Lufthansa, and expanded its existing agreement with Hong Kong Airlines.
