“Modular” hotel group Pod Hotels is to open its latest New York property, and the first outside of Manhattan.

Pod Brooklyn will be located in the Williamsburg district, on the corner of Driggs and Metropolitan, and is scheduled to open in April 2017.

The property will offer 249 rooms measuring around 100 square feet (9.3 sqm), with either queen or bunk beds, and will feature built-in storage, “oversized windows overlooking an abundance of green space and public spaces to create a social college campus feel”, blackout and noise blocking shades, and “high-tech amenities allowing guests to stream their own media content from iPhones or other devices”.

The hotel is being entirely built in Poland and then shipped over to New York, and will feature “numerous courtyards, rooftops and private events space”, as well as a glass ceilinged, open-air lobby, wraparound staircase leading to a second floor mezzanine offering flexible work and lounge space, and a Salvation Taco outlet.

Pod Brooklyn will join two Manhattan properties under the brand – Pod 51 in Midtown East on East 51st Street, and Pod 39 on East 39th Street.

Rates at Pod Brooklyn will start from US£125 per night.
