Virgin Atlantic is to upgrade its IT systems this weekend, with implications for its website and mobile apps.

The work will take place between 1200 on Saturday November 12 and 0500 on Sunday November 13, during which time “customers will not be able to purchase flights or change any reservations on virginatlantic.com, the mobile app, via travel agents or through the airline’s Customer Service Centre”

Customers flying over the weekend will be contacted to advise them to check in online at Virgin’s joint venture partner website delta.com. The carrier says it has also “increased the number of staff at its Customer Service Centre and at airports, in order to help any customers requiring any additional support”.

Passengers should be aware that the disruption may last longer than the weekend, with Virgin advising that “Following the upgrade, an initial period of adjustment is expected and some booking and check-in functions may still be limited”.

The carrier says that the upgrade will “further improve the airline’s travel experience for its customers, providing them with more choice and better service”.
