Citizen M has opened its latest London property, located close to Shoreditch High Street station within a new mixed use retail, workspace and apartments development.

The 216-room hotel features an entrance with abstract artwork by international artist collective AVAF, with a spiral staircase taking guests up to the first floor living and working spaces.

Facilities include self-service check-in terminals, free wifi, and a 24-hour café and bar canteen, with a balcony looking out onto the area’s iconic graffitied tube trains.

Rooms feature super king-size beds, wall-to-wall windows, power rain showers, tablet “mood pads” to control lighting, curtains, heating, TVs and music, and “a small desk with sockets to suit the origin of any plug”.

Citizen M debuted in the UK in 2012 (for a review of the Citizen M Bankside click here), and recently opened the 370-room Citizen M Tower of London.

The Dutch “affordable luxury” brand is due to add five more properties next year – two in Paris, a second in New York, plus Shanghai and Taipei.
