Luxury lifestyle brand 1 Hotels will open its second New York property in February, located at Pier 1 close to Brooklyn Bridge.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge will feature 194 rooms, spa facilities, a fitness centre with yoga and barre studio, a rooftop plunge pool and bar, a 10th floor cocktail lounge, signature Seamus Mullen restaurant, and a ground floor grab-and-go café.

There will also be 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the ground floor Meadow Rue Ballroom which opens out onto a park.

Eco-friendly initiatives at the brand’s first new-build property include a living green wall in the lobby, reclaimed materials for “dynamic art sculptures”, in-room recycling bins, a rain-water reclamation system, and the use of original heart pine beams from the city’s former Domino Sugar Factory and pine flooring from the Old Crow Distillery in Kentucky in the hotel’s design.

In addition the property is being built to LEED guidelines, and “will boast a LEED Dynamic Plaque which will measure and display the building’s eco-conscious practices in real time”.

1 Hotels  already operates properties in Miami’s South Beach and Manhattan’s Central Park, and said that it is “working on the development of three new sustainable properties, including its first international location, which will be announced in the upcoming weeks”.

Business Traveller recently reviewed the brand’s 1 Hotel Central park property, and also featured 1 Hotel South Beach in our round-up of new Miami properties earlier this year.
