Marriott International has opened its second property in Belarus, and the first under its Marriott Hotels and Resorts brand.

The 217-room Minsk Marriott Hotel is located on the Svisloch riverside, as part of a mixed-use complex which will also feature a sports centre and cinema.

Rooms feature hand-made wall finishings and “natural colours and materials to create a calm and elegant environment”, and balconies and riverside views from “many of the rooms”,

Other facilities include Mediterranean restaurant Fornello with private dining facilities and a chef’s table, Barrel Bar, and 940 sqm of meeting space including the Falcon Ballroom for up to 600 guests.

The adjoining Falcon Club sports and entertainment club will offer a 3,000 capacity events arena, cafes and bars, a cinema, fitness centre, spa, and tennis and squash academies.

The project is a joint venture between Belarus and Qatar, explaining the striking falcon-shaped architectural design which is inspired by Qatar’s national bird.

The Minsk Marriott Hotel joins the existing Renaissance Minsk (which opened in 2014) in Marriott’s Belarus portfolio.
