The W Hotel Singapore Sentosa Cove is on track to open by August this year, joining a rapidly expanding portfolio of W Hotels across the Asia-Pacific region.
The highly anticipated 240-room W Singapore will be located in Sentosa Cove within the integrated Quayside Isle complex, which will also consist of The Residences at W Singpaore Sentosa Cove as well as retail and dining outlets. “Sentosa’s natural setting mixed with Singapore’s dynamic energy was our inspiration for the design,” said Mike Tiedy, senior vice president of design and innovation at Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
Shaped like the parting branches of a tree, the hotel is designed to reflect the natural environment of Sentosa Island, mixed with the typically W contemporary and funky touches. Guests will be greeted with a waterfall featuring projections of graphic patterns, an outdoor terrace with glowing grass, rock-shaped daybeds and even the motif of Singapore’s national flower – the orchid – across the hotel.
All guestrooms will be equipped with 42-inch LED TVs, iPod docking stations and Bose sound systems. The hotel will also feature a spa, outdoor pool, gym and four food and beverage outlets, including a Latin American steakhouse called Skirt.
For business travellers, the hotel offers a business centre and more than 1,449 sqm of meeting space.
Other Asian properties in the pipeline include a W Hotel in Bangkok and another in Guangzhou, also scheduled to open later this year, as well as in Mumbai (see story here) and Jakarta (see story here) down the line in 2015.
