The thick smog that permeated Beijing on December 4 continues to loom over the city, resulting in some international flight disruptions to and from China's capital.
According to the Beijing Capital International Airport's (PEK) flight schedule on its website, airlines have proceeded to cancel flights to the Chinese capital after the air quality reached hazardous levels on Sunday.
Dragonair has cancelled flight KA975 (code-share CA6523 CX6893) at 2100 departing for Hong Kong from PEK, and flight KA975 (code-share CA6524 CX6892) departing from Hong Kong to PEK at 2010. Japan Airlines has also proceeded to cancel flight JL869 departing for Tokyo from PEK at 2130.
Earlier today, international carriers such as United Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines cancelled flights. In addition, Air China cancelled more than 30 out of 47 domestic flights in a two-hour period this morning. Domestic services by China Southern and China Eastern Airlines were also cancelled.
The smog in Beijing is expected to last until Tuesday, December 6.
