SIA opens redesigned Sydney lounge

17 Dec 2013 by Clement Huang

Singapore Airlines has unveiled its redesigned Silverkris Lounge in Sydney.

Featuring the new brand-wide lounge design concept, it is the first part of an investment programme that will see the global upgrade of all SIA airport lounges – in 15 cities – over the next five years.

The new concept was designed by architectural and interior design firm Ong&Ong, and features elements of a home, following extensive research that included focus groups with customers.

According to the airline, the next few lounges due for the upgrade include the London, Hong Kong and Singapore Changi Airport (Terminal 3) facilities, all in 2014.

The redesigned Sydney lounge showcases SIA’s heritage with a customised batik design screen in the welcome foyer, which bares a resemblance to the iconic stewardess sarong.

Inside, the lounge features specially selected art pieces, sourced locally and from Singapore.

The "home" concept shines here via the use of personal space that can be tailored for different needs, ranging from a living room, kitchen and dining room.

Laksa – a Singaporean favourite

In addition, the new "taste of Singapore" concept, which sees Singaporean favourites such as Laksa and Mee Siam being served, has been introduced into the Sydney facility, and will gradually become available in all Silverkris lounges.

The dishes from Singapore will be offered alongside other food choices from around the world, and a wide range of wines and spirits.
