Mongolian Airlines goes international

Mongolian Airlines Group has started international routes, beginning with flights to Hong Kong, soon to be followed by Shanghai and Tokyo services, all operated by Airbus A319 aircraft.

The three weekly flights between Ulaan Baatar and Hong Kong, launched last week, depart on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1500, arriving in Hong Kong at 1930. On Fridays, the flight departs at 1420, arriving in Hong Kong at 1830. The return legs are operated on the same days. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they depart at 2010, arriving back in Ulaan Baatar at 0020. On Fridays, flights depart at 1930 and touch down at 2340. 

Flights to Shanghai Pudong will begin on July 1, operated four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flights will depart at 1600, arriving in Shanghai at 1910, and the return leg takes off at 2010, touching down in Ulaan Baatar at 2310.

Finally, on July 14, the carrier will launch thrice-weekly service to Tokyo Haneda on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight will depart at 2015, arriving in the Japanese city at 0130, and the return leg is schedule to depart at 0230 for 0645 arrival in the Mongolian capital. 

Mongolia is beginning to attract attention from investors due to its vast mineral wealth and reforms to foreign investment policies, which are expected to take effect soon. Consequently, demand for flights in and out of the capital is increasing.
