Marriott International has welcomed its 18th and largest property in Shanghai to date.
The opening of the 39-storey Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre in Shanghai is part of the group's "one hotel a month" expansion plan in China for the next three years (see story here).
Located on Xizang Middle Road, the 720-guestroom hotel is walking distance from the city’s entertainment and cultural attractions such as Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, The Bund and People’s Square. It is 17km from Hongqiao International Airport and 48km from Pudong International Airport.
For the business traveller, 2000 sqm of multi-functional space for meetings and events is available on the fifth floor. The full wifi-equipped area features seven meeting rooms, two pillar-free ballrooms, each with seven-metre high ceilings, and a full-service business centre. Guest rooms also feature business-friendly amenities such as 42-inch LCD TVs equipped with plug-and-play mp3 and laptop connectivity, as well as iPod docking stations.
For dining, the hotel has Japanese restaurant chain Inagiku, Chinese restaurant Man Ho, all-day restaurant Shanghai City Bistro, bites-to-go at Java+ and afternoon tea at The Lounge. With complimentary use of iPads and wireless internet access, The Lounge can also double up as a retreat for meeting business clients and guests.
China is one of Marriott International's most important markets outside of the US. The group currently operates 18 hotels across its brand portfolio in Shanghai, and has five hotels in the pipeline for the city alone in the next three years.
