Malaysia Airlines switches to self check in

15 Jul 2011

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is moving away from check-in counter service to self check in for domestic flights out of KL International Airport (KLIA) from August 1, 2011. MAS is positioning 22 check-in kiosks in rows A-F to handle the job.

This is the first phase of the switchover. International flights will be covered in the future.

“Our customers will have yet another check-in option at the airport, in addition to the existing self-service convenience offered through our MH Mobile Check-in, MH Web Check-in and MH Buddy Check-in through Facebook,” said Mohamed Azharuddin Osman, MAS director of operations, "Customers are reminded to have their 13 digit e-ticket number for self check-in.”

But they still need to produce all the existing travel and safety requirements for air travel out of KLIA.

Travellers can check in as early as 48 hours before departure, with flights closing 40 minutes before take off. The only counter services that will remain are for baggage drop off and special needs passengers.
