Langham Group launches first property in New York

3 May 2013

Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group will launch its first New York property, Langham Place, Fifth Avenue on May 7.

The 60-storey hotel is located at 400 Fifth Avenue, at the intersection with 36th Street, providing easy access to the city’s important financial, commercial and cultural centres.

The property comprises 214 guestrooms and suites, among the largest in New York, as well as spaces for meetings and social events. Other facilities include the Michelin-starred Ai Fiori restaurant, a spa, salon, fitness studio and the Measure lounge. The hospitality group’s signature Chuan Spa will be introduced in 2014.

The already two-year-old property was previously known as The Setai Fifth Avenue, and has now been taken over from previous owners Capella Hotels & Resorts. It will be Langham’s third property in North America.

“Langham Place, Fifth Avenue is a milestone in our global expansion in the world’s most important destinations,” said Brett Butcher, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group, “and it will be a welcome addition to the group’s North American portfolio, which includes The Langham hotels in Pasadena (Los Angeles) and Boston.” He added that the group would launch two more North American properties in Chicago (see here) and Toronto in July 2013.

Currently, Langham Group has 14 hotels worldwide, spread across destinations in China, Australia, North America and Europe.
