17 Jan 2011

Korean Air announced today that it would deploy its first Airbus A380 on June 1 between Seoul and Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

The A380 will first fly between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Tokyo Narita Airport in the morning. In the afternoon, it will then fly between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.

On June 1 only, flight KE703 will depart Seoul at 1010 and arrive at Tokyo at 1230. The return flight, KE704, will leave at 1355 and arrive at 1620. From June 2 onwards, flights KE701 and KE702, leaving an hour earlier, will take over from KE703 and KE704 respectively.

Between Seoul and Hong Kong, flight KE607 will depart daily at 2000 and arrive at 2230. The return flight, KE608, leaves at 0050 and arrives at 0520. A B777-300 will operate the outbound service on Mondays and the return flight on Tuesdays.

The carrier will systematically deploy the superjumbo plane on more routes: between Seoul and Bangkok in July, between Seoul and New York in August and between Seoul and Los Angeles in October.

As reported earlier, the carrier will be the first to devote the entire upper deck to 94 business class seats (see story here). Korean Air has ordered a total of 10 A380s, five of which will be delivered by year end.
