KLM - Royal Dutch Airlines, part of the Air France-KLM group, has launched services to four new Latin American destinations – Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Havana and Punta Cana – alongside a codeshare deal with Aerolineas Argentinas reflecting the group’s growth strategy in the region.
From its hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the carrier will fly three times a week to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Havana and twice weekly to Punta Cana.
The group's other airline Air France already operates these routes and together the two carriers fly to Rio de Janeiro 17 times per week, and 13, 10 and seven times per week to Havana, Buenos Aires and Punta Cana respectively.
These flights were launched alongside a reciprocal codeshare partnership established between KLM and Aerolineas Argentinas, which will come into effect in the first quarter of 2012. The agreement is to offer seamless onward connections from Buenos Aires for KLM passengers, while their counterparts flying Aerolineas Argentinas will have access to European destinations served by KLM from Amsterdam. The agreement also includes mutual frequent flyer benefits for members of AerolineasPlus and Air France-KLM Flying Blue.
