Japan Airlines has announced that it will operate a B777-300ER, kitted out with the new Sky Suite product, on the Narita Tokyo-JFK New York route in early May.

The product debuted on the carrier's daily Narita-Heathrow service in January (see here).

In August last year, Japan Airlines began reconfiguring all classes in its 13-strong international B777-300ER fleet (see here). In the new design there are eight first class, 49 fully-flat business, 40 premium economy and 135 economy class seats.

The JAL Suite in first class offers “one of the largest first class spaces available in the skies” with a bed length of 78.5 inches/199cm and width of 33 inches/83cm. Business class seats – called JAL Sky Suite – meanwhile, has a bed length of 74 inches/187cm, with a maximum width of 25.5 inches/65cm.

New premium economy seats, called JAL Sky Premium, have four inches/10cm more seat pitch than previously, while economy seats are now spaced three inches/7.6-cms further apart. All have larger TVs. For more information about the new seats, and photos, click here

First and business class also feature an electric toilet with a bidet feature, and menus designed by four Japanese Michelin-star chefs.

JAL also announced that its "JAL Sky Wifi" service, currently available on routes to New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Jakarta, will be sequentially introduced on routes to Europe from April onwards.
