Japan Airlines has taken delivery of its first two Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft, which will soon be deployed on its new Boston service.
As reported earlier (see story here), the carrier will begin flying to Boston from Tokyo Narita on April 22 with this aircraft and eventually launch flights to Helsinki and San Diego with the Dreamliner (see story here). Other destinations to receive the plane are Beijing, Moscow, New Delhi and Singapore (see story here).
The carrier has a total of 25 firm orders for the B787-8 and 20 for the B787-9 aircraft to be delivered from 2012 through to 2016 (see story here).
Japan Airlines is the second Japanese carrier to take delivery of the Dreamliner, following in the footsteps of All Nippon Airways (ANA), which was the launch carrier for this aviation game changer (see story here).
Other carriers poised to receive their Dreamliners include United Airlines (see story here), Air India (see story here) and Qantas, although the Australian flag carrier has deferred the delivery as part of a cost cutting initiative (see story here) with no new delivery dates available.
