Hong Kong Airlines will start up four daily flights to Taipei and Kaohsiung, scheduled to operate in the first quarter of 2012.
The news comes after Hong Kong and Taiwan signed an Air Services Arrangement (ASA) promoting the growth of more air services between both destinations (see story here).
Hong Kong executives said: “As the aviation industry plays an important role in Hong Kong’s economy, we believe the new arrangement is crucial to Hong Kong’s international competitiveness and long-term economic prosperity, and caters for the continued strong and fast-growing demand of the tourism and freight industries between Hong Kong and Taiwan.”
Currently, Hong Kong Airlines flies to 14 international destinations, including Thailand, China, Japan, Singapore, UK and US.
