China Eastern officially joins SkyTeam today to become the 14th member of the global airline alliance.
Passengers of China Eastern and its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines will now have access to SkyTeam’s international network while travellers flying with other carriers in the alliance have 32 new destinations in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific region to choose from, including Jiayuguan and Macau.
As reported earlier (see story here), China Eastern is the second Chinese airline to join the alliance after China Southern, a member since 2007.
Effective immediately, the airline’s Eastern Miles becomes reciprocal with loyalty programmes of the other 13 SkyTeam members meaning frequent flyers can earn and redeem miles with all 14 partner airlines.
