Cathay Pacific (CX) has announced the details of its twice-daily service to Haneda Airport, which will start on October 31, 2010.
The Hongkong-based carrier joins the growing list of airlines that will use the downtown Tokyo airport when its new international air terminal opens in October (see news).
The first flight CX548 will take off at from Chek Lap Kok at 0830, arriving at Haneda at 1325. The return flight CX549 will depart from Tokyo at 1625 and arrive in Hongkong at 2040. The second flight CX543 will depart from Haneda at 1045 and will land in Hongkong at 1500. Its return flight CX542 will leave Hongkong at 1605, touching down at Haneda at 2105.
CX will use an Airbus A330-300 and a Boeing 747-400 aircraft on this route.
"We believe this new service will make Tokyo an even more popular destination for Hongkong people," said CX chief executive Tony Tyler, adding that "we will now provide more flights to and from Japan's capital, offering more convenience for passengers".
The launch of the Haneda service will increase the airline's Tokyo flights from six to seven a day. Frequency of daily air services to and from Narita airport will be adjusted to five flights a day – four non-stop and one via Taipei.
