Cathay Pacific to add more passenger capacity

Cathay Pacific (CX) plans to increase frequencies to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France and Japan, a reaction to resurgent passenger demand. This will take place from October 31, 2010 onwards.

According to CX chief executive Tony Tyler, passenger capacity will be increased by about four percent for the group, "returning to 2008 pre-financial crisis levels".

• Hongkong to Sydney – from 24 flights weekly to four-times daily from November 15, 2010 to March 26, 2011

• Hongkong to Perth – three flights will be added, making a total of 10 flights weekly from November 16 to March 26

• Hongkong to Brisbane/Cairns – one more flight will be added, making a daily service to Cairns and a total of 11 flights to Brisbane from November 21 to March 6

• Hongkong to Auckland – two more flights will be added, making a total of 12 flights weekly from November 27 to March 6

• Hongkong to Toronto – two more flights will be added, making a total of 12 flights weekly from October 31

• Hongkong to Osaka – a daily flight will be added, making a total of four flights daily from October 31

• Hongkong to Paris – 10 flights a week until September 30, then back to daily; 9 flights weekly from November 27 to December 10; 11 flights weekly from December 11
