Carlson to replace Goldpoints Plus with Club Carlson scheme

15 Feb 2011 by Mark Caswell

Hospitality group Carlson is to replace its Goldpoints Plus loyalty scheme with a new programme from the end of March, with features including an elite Concierge tier, and no blackout dates for redemptions.

Club Carlson launches on March 31 as the replacement for Goldpoints Plus, with the group aiming to reach 10 million members by 2013, as part of its Ambition 2015 plan (see online news January 14).

The new scheme will offer an elite Concierge tier, with benefits including complimentary room upgrades and continental breakfast, early check in and late check out, a 75 per cent point bonus on stays, and access to a Concierge Service line (starting later this year), for tickets and dinner reservations.

The scheme will have no blackout dates for redemptions, and rollover nights will allow elite members to roll over extra nights to qualify for their next year’s elite status. Carlson offers free internet access at all Radisson properties worldwide, and all Carlson brands in North America.

Members will be able to earn points at over 1,000 Radisson, Country Inns and Suites by Carlson, Park Inn and Park Plaza properties worldwide, and there will be new redemption opportunities for US members with CWT Vacations and Club Med.

In addition Carlson has added 30 new retail and restaurant partners to provide “low point redemption options”, including amazon.com, Best Buy, iTunes and TGI Friday’s.

It’s not yet clear how existing points within the Goldpoints Plus scheme will be transferred over to the new Club Carlson programme, the website for which will go live on March 31 at clubcarlson.com.
