Hyatt Hotels has chosen India and China as launchpads in Asia-Pacific for its Andaz branded hotels. Andaz is Urudu for "music".
According to Hyatt executives, “style, simplicity and locality” sum up the look and feel of the properties in this young portfolio, which includes Andaz Liverpool Street, London, Andaz West Hollywood, Andaz Wall Street and Andaz San Diego.
Andaz 5th Avenue in New York is scheduled to open in August.
Though it won’t be until 2013 that Andaz Delhi will be up and running, the hotel specs have been determined: 323 guestrooms with an additional 118 apartments; ballroom with seven meeting rooms; lobby lounge, theme bar and two restaurants; and spa and gym. The hotel is located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in an area being developed for tourism and leisure activities.
In China, the resort destination of Sanya is to host Andaz Sanya Sunny Bay (183 rooms) as well as Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay (196 rooms). These will form part of a mixed-use community ringing a man-made lake. The two properties will share facilities including a spa village. Targeted opening date has still to be confirmed.
