Air China plans to upgrade the aircraft used on its second daily flight between Beijing and Frankfurt from November 22, meaning both daily services now use a new B777-300ER aircraft.
The airline began using its newly delivered B777-300ER on flight pairing CA931/2 in July last year. Now it plans to also deploy the aircraft on pairing CA965/6 that was previously served by a B747.
The B777-300ER aircraft offers an increase in capacity and features Air China’s new first and business class seats (see photos below and here), both with lie-flat beds and seat side power outlets.

A spokesperson said the upgrade was part of Air China’s long-term strategy of assigning B777-300ER’s to all of its long-haul routes. The airline has 19 B777-300ER’s on order from Boeing, the 10th of which was delivered at the end of last month.
At the end of October, the airline began using a B777-300ER on flights between Hong Kong and Beijing, while earlier this month it also announced it would deploy the aircraft on its Beijing–Sydney route from December (see here).
