Air China starts direct flights between Shanghai and Paris

2 Dec 2011

Air China has announced it will resume direct flights between Shanghai and Paris from March 10, 2012, after more than a one year hiatus, while the existing Shanghai-Beijing-Paris flight will be rescheduled as a daily direct Beijing-Paris flight.

The Shanghai-Paris flight, operated by an Airbus A340-300, will depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 0015, arriving in Paris at 0630. The return leg departs Paris at 1230, arriving back in Shanghai at 0645 the following day.

The daily Beijing-Paris flight will be operated by a B777-300ER, which features its new business class cabin (see story here), and will depart Beijing at 1330, arriving in Paris at 1745, while the return leg departs at 1930, arriving back in the Chinese capital at 1240 the following day.

According to a spokesperson from Air China, the carrier is able to split the Shanghai-Beijing-Paris route into two separate direct routes because of more aircraft deliveries. The first of 19 B777-300ERs was delivered in July, while three more are expected to have joined the fleet by the end of the year.
