Accor opens 500th property in Asia

21 May 2012

Accor has crossed a major milestone this month with the opening of its 500th hotel in Asia-Pacific – the Pullman Gurgaon Central Park – which also happens to be the group’s first Pullman-branded property in India.

The 285-room hotel is located in a key commercial district that houses multinational offices, including American Express, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.

All guestrooms offer a media hub and wifi internet access while the rest of the hotel includes five food and beverage outlets – one of them a poolside bar – an outdoor swimming pool, gym, spa, and a business centre. There is also a dedicated IT butler on call – a very important service given the increasingly important role technology plays in travellers' lives.

As with most Pullman hotels, this one has a keen focus on the MICE industry, with almost 1,500 sqm of meeting spaces.

This hotel's opening reflects Accor’s determination to expand in the Asia-Pacific market, with an aim to operate 700 properties in the region by 2015 – one it is on track to accomplish. In India, the group currently has 17 properties, including the recently opened Hotel Sofitel Mumbai BKC (see story here), a number that is to increase to 23 by the year's end.
