Jetstar Asia brings “Straight-to-Gate” service to HK

16 Apr 2014 by Clement Huang
Jetstar Asia is bringing its “Straight-to-Gate” web check-in service to Hong Kong, after launching it in Singapore late last year (see here). Customers travelling out of Hong Kong with only carry-on bags and that do not need a visa for their destinations can now bypass check-in counters as long as they have checked in online and printed their boarding passes. At the airport, they can proceed straight to security, immigration and the departure gate. Considering that Jetstar Asia delivers a low-cost offering which means that checked baggage is a payable add-on service, the airline anticipates that more than 45,000 customers will choose to use the service this year. “With up to 45 per cent of passengers travelling with carry-on baggage only today, a large proportion of our travellers will have the opportunity to use Straight-to-Gate,” said Jetstar Asia chief executive Barathan Pasupathi. “For our operations, Straight-to-Gate means our team can continue to focus more on serving our customers with checked bags and special needs, fast-tracking the check-in process during busy holiday periods.” For more information, visit www.jetstar.com/sg Clement Huang
