American Airlines and Qatar Airways have expanded their frequent flyer programme agreement to let their respective AAdvantage and Privilege Club loyalty members earn and redeem miles on both airlines. The repciprocal agreement, which started this week, builds on the two carriers' codeshare agreement that lets them jointly ply 170 routes throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East. Suzanne Rubin, president of the AAdvantage Loyalty Program, said: "This expansion of our relationship with Qatar is another example of how American is focused on strengthening its global network through building strategic partnerships with other airlines, all while meeting the needs of our most loyal customers." Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, added: "This agreement represents the natural evolution of Qatar Airways' strong codeshare relationship with American Airlines." As previously reported, Qatar Airways will join the Oneworld alliance on October 30 (see news, September 9). aa.com, qatarairways.com Graham Smith
